It’s New Year’s Day and I have the pleasure of having the day off from my concrete cubicle prison [the 9-5 that pays the bills]. I’ve spent the last few days thinking about this past year and congratulating myself on the triumphs while quietly wondering if my failures are even worth weeping over. I still have my fatal flaw of too many ideas and too little time. I still bite off more than I can chew when it comes to grand plans of creativity and finally realizing my dreams of working for myself and building a creative business. I fear that part of myself will always exist no matter what steps of temperament I take, and I am coming to terms with that facet of my character.
There has been progress in other facets. I have learned to take better care of myself this past year and set more realistic expectations with my work/life balance. I have used my PTO without guilt and I have learned that naps are a necessity and the cat will [literally] yell at me if I try to avoid them and push myself too hard. I have slowed down some endeavors simply so I could focus on maintaining my sanity and it proved successful, I did not have a severe burnout at the end of my busy season and I have been able to stave off the worst of my seasonal depression as winter has set in.
While I have not pursued a rigorous breeding schedule, the rabbity is still abundant and I have still struggled to finish all of my processing on time. With a slow down in production, the online store has also slowed, which is a little disappointing as I was just hitting a good stride in the early parts of 2025. Ah well, I cannot be remiss since selling my soul to a cubicle has allowed me to put back a significant amount of funds for rainy day use as well as funded the purchase of some necessary tools to further my abilities as a crafter.
So what is planned for this next year? Oh there are no real plans. There are dreams and ambitions. World building and storytelling. Raising rabbits and binding books. Attending events and teaching classes. But the plan has been abandoned and we are coasting on vibes this year. It could be wildly successful, or a spectacular failure. I do not know.
I will say: I have every best intention of getting this blog back to a semi-regular posting schedule. IF I manage to do that, we will initially be exploring the world of Leuclumoth following the travels of Ruim Urdair. I hope you will be around to watch as this world and Ruim develop.
